Summer Reading Program
Public Libraries all over the country, including Raymond Village Library, are preparing to open their doors wide and welcome children of all ages to participate in the summer reading program they have planned. According to a study by The Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University, children who have participated in public library summer reading programs returned to school ready to learn, improved their reading achievement and skills, increased their enjoyment of reading, were more motivated to read, were more confident in their reading, read beyond what was required in their free time, and perceived reading to be more important.
This year the Raymond Village Library presents the Kick-Off for the Summer Reading Program, titled Ready, Get Set…READ! at the Raymond Public Safety Building on Sunday, June 26 beginning at 1:00pm. Greg and his wonder dog, Axel will be the presenters. The non-stop magic comedy and Axel’s funny hi-jinx will keep everyone laughing and learning.
